Celebrating the best of our communities
As a social landlord we strive to create communities where people want to live and so it’s inspiring to see so many of our residents helping to bring that vision to life. That’s why I’m delighted to announce the launch of our Good Garden Awards and our Good Neighbour Award Scheme.
Good Garden Awards
We want to celebrate all the amazing ways in which our green fingered customers make the most out of caring for their outdoor spaces, big or small. It’s wonderful to see the creativity, effort and love that goes into transforming outdoor spaces, no matter the size. Whether it’s a garden bursting with blooms, a patio full of pots and planters, or even a window box or hanging basket that brings a splash of colour to the street, it all makes a difference.
Therefore, we are celebrating this by encouraging our customers to nominate their own gardens, or those of a North Devon Homes (NDH) neighbour. The overall winner will receive a £50 prize, and this will be announced at our NDH Customer Summer Fayre on 25th July. But that’s not all. We’ve got eight other £25 prizes up for grabs, including:
- Best small garden
- Best large garden
- Best containers, pots & hanging baskets
- Best vegetable garden
- Best junior gardener
- Best wildlife/bee friendly garden
- Best flower garden
- Best use of recycled materials or sustainable garden
So, if you’re a NDH customer proud of your plants, or know an NDH customer whose garden always brings joy to your day, don’t keep it a secret, share it! To enter, just email us a few photos of the garden to [email protected] or bring the photos to us at our Head Office on Westacott Road, Barnstaple, EX32 8TA by 18th July. It’s that simple.
But that’s not all we’re celebrating this summer.
Good Neighbour Award Scheme
We’re also excited to launch our Good Neighbour Award Scheme. We often hear heart-warming stories about neighbours helping each other, whether it’s something small, like putting the bins out, or something more personal, like being there for a chat during a tough time. We think it’s time those everyday acts of kindness were recognised.
So, if you have a neighbour whose thoughtfulness makes a difference in your life, perhaps someone who looks after your cat or plants when you are away, helps with your shopping or gardening, or is always there when you need them, now’s your chance to say thank you.
We’ll be awarding a £25 voucher to a deserving neighbour every three months, with our first winner being announced this summer. To nominate, just call us on 01271 312500 or email [email protected] All we ask is that both the nominee and the person nominating are customers and that the nominee isn’t a family member or someone you live with.
Kindness and community are at the heart of what makes our neighbourhoods thrive. These awards are our way of saying thank you to those who go the extra mile. We can’t wait to celebrate the amazing people who make our communities so special.
