Local families benefit as North Devon Homes completes first affordable homes in Torridge
North Devon Homes has completed its first affordable homes in Torridge, ensuring local families have access to much-needed housing. Located in the village of Buckland Brewer, the new properties on the Foxglove View development mark a significant step forward in the community landlord’s mission to address the region’s housing crisis.
Paul Scovell, Development Manager at North Devon Homes, said, “We are thrilled to see these homes completed and were delighted to hand them over to the new occupants, all of whom have a local connection to the parish and surrounding areas. These homes mark our first affordable housing development in Torridge and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering more affordable homes across our area. With a critical shortage of affordable housing in Northern Devon, these homes are a vital addition that will make a real difference to local families.”
Developed in partnership with Allison Homes, the development has provided 17 affordable homes. The mix includes 12 social-rented homes for North Devon Homes customers and five shared-ownership properties, providing local families with accessible housing options.
Paul added, “Working with Allison Homes has been a fantastic experience. Their reputation for quality is evident in this development, and we look forward to continuing this partnership to meet the growing housing needs of our rural communities.”
Foxglove View is a 55 home development, ranging from two to four bedrooms, all featuring gardens and parking. The completion of the 17 affordable homes adds significant value to the local housing market, bringing modern, high-quality properties to this rural area.
North Devon Homes, a charitable organisation, reinvests all income from rents and charges back into its homes, services, and the creation of new properties. Alongside the Buckland Brewer development, the community landlord is continuing to deliver affordable housing in Ilfracombe, Westward Ho!, Bickington and Braunton as part of its broader strategy to tackle the housing shortage across Northern Devon.
