10 Time-Tested Tips for a Well-Organised Home

Hello again my dears, as spring is a good time for decluttering and tidying your home, I've decided to share my tried and tested tips for making your home neat and well organised.

  1. Declutter with Purpose

  • “Darling, clutter accumulates faster than wrinkles!” Set aside time each month to declutter different areas of your home. Donate or discard items you no longer need. Remember, less is more!
  1. Create Nooks of Comfort

  • “My dear, every corner tells a story.” Divide your home into functional zones (e.g., kitchen, living room, bedroom, study). Keep items related to each area together for easy access. Let each nook reflect your life’s journey.
  1. The Art of Tidying Up

  • “Label those bins, love!” Invest in storage solutions—baskets, bins, and shelves. Label containers so you can find your treasures without squinting. A tidy home is a happy heart.
  1. Morning Rituals Matter

  • “Start your day with grace, my sweet.” Make your bed every morning. It sets the tone for the day. And while you’re at it, fluff those pillows—life’s too short for flat cushions!
  1. Plan Your Feasts

  • “Cooking is love made edible.” Plan meals for the week. Create a shopping list and stick to it. And don’t forget to add a pinch of nostalgia—the secret ingredient in every family recipe.
  1. Laundry Wisdom

  • “Sort those socks, dear!” Sort laundry as you go. Set specific laundry days. And when folding, reminisce about the stories behind each worn-out T-shirt.
  1. Paper Trails and Tea

  • “Letters, bills, and memories—oh my!” Sort mail immediately. Use a filing system for important documents. Sip your tea, and let the ink-stained pages take you back in time.
  1. Seasonal Shifts

  • “Darling, life has seasons too.” Store seasonal clothing and decor in labelled bins. Swap them out as needed. And remember, autumn leaves fall gracefully—just like memories.
  1. Dust and Dreams

  • “Dust settles, but dreams don’t.” Follow a regular cleaning schedule. Involve family members—they’ll learn life’s lessons while scrubbing floors. And don’t forget to dance with the broom!
  1. Cherished Curiosities

  • “Decorate with heart, my love.” Choose decor that brings you joy. Display family heirlooms, faded photographs, and that teacup with a chipped handle. Beauty lies in imperfection.

Remember, my dear, an organised home isn’t just about neat shelves; it’s about weaving memories into the fabric of your life. Happy homemaking!
