This month 10 members of our team undertook Mental Health First Aid training. In time for World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10 October 2019 the team has been put in place to ensure an additional support system for employees.
The team, from a variety of departments across the business, will be on hand to support the rest of Team NDH in their day-to-day wellbeing, helping support and give information when it comes to mental health.
As well as this group, many other teams have had mental health first aid training at North Devon Homes to help assist customers and to better understand the issues around mental health in the workplace.
Michelle Thake, Head of HR said:
“As a team we want to help reduce the stigma of mental health, and to promote wellbeing. Raising awareness is key so we’ve had a large number of our team trained in mental health first aid to support our customers for a while now, and this next step is for a dedicated team to provide better support for our employees. We provide many services and initiatives for our employees when it comes to supporting mental health and promoting wellbeing, including our EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) that offers free support services to anyone that works for North Devon Homes and their immediate families.”
