Ways to Pay
There are a number of ways to pay your rent either online, in person or over the phone.
Direct Debit
This is the easiest way to pay your rent as each month your rent will be collected automatically from your bank account. Direct Debits are collected monthly over 11 months from April to February. There are four payment dates, 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd of the month. We need to receive your form at least 10 working days before the first payment is collected.
Complete the form and send it to North Devon Homes, Westacott Road, Barnstaple EX32 8TA with a note of your address. If you cannot download and print the form above please contact us and we’ll send you a form in the post.
Online
North Devon Homes offers you the option of paying your rent online through its secure online payment service allpay. You will need the 19-digit number from the front of your North Devon Homes payment card to set up your allpay account. If you don’t have your card you can send us an email at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you with the number.
Once your account is set up you can log into allpay any time using your personal login details to make rent payments. Please note payments made to us using this facility will display as ‘allpay’ on your bank statement.

Allpay App
You can pay your rent using the allpay app which is available to download for free for Apple, Android and Windows smartphones at www.allpay.net/app. After completing a brief registration process, you can save all your payment numbers and amounts, plus bank card details, so you do not need to enter the information every time.

Difficulty in paying your rent
If you are struggling to pay your rent, do not ignore the situation. Paying your rent is an important condition of your tenancy agreement and if you do not act you could end up losing your home. Managing money can be a struggle, especially if you are on a low income. That is why we try to keep our rents affordable and make sure our homes are efficient to run.
Budgeting is becoming an increasingly important skill to have. If you have more money going out than coming in it can mean that you do not have enough money to pay for your priority bills and essential expenditure. Planning and monitoring your budget will help you identify any areas of expenditure that can be cut back, allow you to make alterations if your financial situation changes, and help you achieve your financial goals.
If you are struggling to pay your rent, please get in touch with our Income Team, let us know about your circumstances and make a reasonable arrangement to repay the debt. Make sure you respond to any letters or phone calls from us about your rent account.

Avoid Loan Sharks
Avoid going to commercial debt companies who charge high fees. Never go to an unlicensed money lender (or loan shark) if you are struggling financially. They will only make your situation worse.

Your rent is charged weekly each Monday for 48 weeks of the year. At the beginning of your tenancy, we ask that you pay the first four weeks’ rent in advance. After that we ask that you pay your rent on time, i.e., weekly on a Monday for the week to come. If you prefer to pay your rent monthly, that’s fine, we just ask that you pay for the month to come so that your account does not fall into arrears between payments. If you have universal credit housing costs or housing benefit paid direct to North Devon Homes, we treat those payments as if they were made by you and your rent account should not fall into arrears between payments.
